STEPS TO PLANNING A TRADITIONAL WEDDING

How to start wedding planning... the immediate thought after your significant other pops the big question. Planning a wedding can be a daunting task. I want to be able to provide a resource to my couples to help take off some of that stress and make planning your day more enjoyable.




I've made a timeline of important events so that you can start your checklist with ease and have a smooth ride to your wedding day. It's not going to be exact for every couple as everyone's wedding is different and has its unique touch, but a ton of these events will be a must-do leading up to your day.



12+ MONTHS BEFORE

  • Decide on a budget

  • Select your date

  • Pick a venue and draft your guest list

  • Choose your vendors

  • Order save-the-dates

10-12 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Book your photographer, florist, caterers, and event rentals

  • Pick an officiant

  • Build your bridal party

  • Finalize guest list

  • Send save-the-dates


8-10 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Find and purchase your wedding gown

  • Book your band or DJ

  • Cake tasting and order your cake

  • Hire hair and makeup artists

  • Make your registry

  • Plan ceremony & reception decor

6-8 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Pick bridesmaids dresses

  • Buy wedding bands

  • Create your song lists

  • Book rehearsal dinner venue

4-6 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Order wedding invitations

  • Pick groomsmen attire

2-4 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Hair and makeup trial

  • Send invitations

  • Apply for a marriage license

  • Review ceremony with officiant

  • Finalize catering menu, decor details, wedding cake details, and floral arrangements

1 MONTH BEFORE

  • Build a seating chart (if you'll be making one)

  • Order thank you cards

  • Write vows

  • Review song list with DJ

1-2 WEEKS BEFORE

  • Final dress fitting

  • Final headcount

  • Finalize seating chart

  • Send out the wedding day schedule

  • Confirm remaining details with vendors
